ACMA Theatre Company Performs Family-Friendly “The Fantasticks” March 7-16; Anticipate Surprises!

Beaverton, OR — The Arts & Communications Magnet Academy (ACMA) Theatre Company will perform “The Fantasticks,” with some surprising twists, March 7-16 at ACMA Arts Center, 11375 SW Center St., Beaverton, OR 97005.

Director Joel Morello says ACMA will produce “The Fantasticks” with an Hispanic flavor, but that’s not the biggest surprise.

Written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, “The Fantasticks” is the world’s longest running musical, having run for more than 50 years in Manhattan.

“The Fantasticks” is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall. The narrator, El Gallo, asks audience members to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart, and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo's words: "Without a hurt, the heart is hollow."

The famous score includes such classics as “Try To Remember,” “They Were You,” and “Soon It's Gonna Rain.”

Performances will be 7 pm Thursday through Saturday, March 7-9 and 14-16. Matinees are 2 pm March 9 and 16, and will be followed by a Q and A with the cast. Tickets--$15 for adults, $8 for students-- can be purchased at www.acmatickets.com. Tickets will be available Feb. 7 online.
